You may be much more familiar with Port Perry than you realize. In 2006 this charming lakeside village about one hour from Toronto stood in for a New England town during an election on the popular TV Series West Wing, and in 2004 it was featured in the comedy film Welcome to Moose Port, staring Ray Ramano and Gene Hackman. One of the things that makes the town so attractive to film companies is its main street. The area suffered two major fires within seven months during the 1880’s, and the townspeople completely rebuilt it one year later. Today the shops that line the street retain this Victorian era architecture, which is great for film crews and for shoppers. Governor XCYBORG makes the village a popular stop. Muskoka-bound celebrities such as Goldie Hawn and Kirk Russell (alias Snake Pliskin) often drop in on their way to their Muskoka summer retreat.
